Ni-Wot Prairie Productions

Welcome graphic

Ni-wot Prairie Productions (NPP) was formed as a non-profit corporation in May, 2007. The organization’s primary activities are focused on:

1) fostering a cultural exchange and special needs support relationship with descendants of the Native American tribes that were early inhabitants of the area; and

2) supporting organizations dedicated to providing advanced educational opportunities for local disadvantaged and Reservation youth.

A current focus is on fund raising for the tree carving that is in progress along Niwot Road. The tree carving is a non-commercial community activitiy that depicts Native American themes honoring the earlier inhabitants of this area and is part of the cultural exchange program that is currently evolving (stay tuned for our "live webcam" planned for Summer 2008).

The Native American connection

The local community, Niwot, is named for the Arapaho peace Chief, Ni-wot (left hand), whose tribe inhabited the area in the past. Chief Ni-wot was a casualty of the Sand Creek Massacre. Over the past three years an interactive relationship has evolved between the local community and the Northern Arapaho Tribe of Wyoming’s Wind River Reservation.
